To explore the influencing factors and intervention strategies of scores of discharge Readiness Scale (RHDS) in elderly patients after inguinal hernia surgery.

The clinical data of 90 elderly patients after inguinal hernia surgery who were admitted to Huainan Xinhua Hospital from August 2020 to June 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. The scores of RHDS of elderly inguinal hernia patients with different conditions were compared, the factors with statistical significance were included in the multivariate analysis, and the influencing factors of the scores of RHDS in elderly patients after inguinal hernia surgery were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis.

The scores of RHDS were lower in elderly patients who were aged>75 years old, high school and below, living in rural areas, indirect hernia, open surgery,self-care, living alone, with chronic diseases, had decreased ability to perceive self-care, postoperative local edema, urinary retention, nausea and vomiting, and severe pain (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the age>75 years old, residence in rural areas, indirect hernia, open surgery, decreased perceived self-care ability, postoperative local edema, urinary retention, nausea and vomiting, and severe pain were independent risk factors for the score of RHDS in elderly patients after inguinal hernia surgery.

Targeted clinical treatment and intervention measures could be given accordingly to improve patient's readiness for discharge.
