Management of large or super large abdominal wall defect after extensive abdominal wall tumor resection

Abstract:

Abdominal wall tumors, especial malignant tumors, will lead to large or super large abdominal wall defects after tumor extensive resection. The choice of reasonable abdominal wall repair and reconstruction techniques is the key to treatment. This paper summarized the clinical characteristics, current status of treatment, preoperative evaluation of abdominal wall defects after extensive resection of abdominal wall tumors and surgical strategy of repair and reconstruction techniques for abdominal wall defects. The importance of abdominal wall defect type, defect size, tissue around the defect and the patient's whole body to the choice of surgical procedure was emphasized.
