Diagnosis and differentiation of oblique, direct and femoral inguinal hernia in senile patients by high-frequency color Doppler ultrasonography

Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the application value of high frequency color Doppler ultrasound in indirect, direct and femoral inguinal hernia in the elderly.

Methods

The subjects of this study were the basic clinical data of 140 elderly patients diagnosed with inguinal hernia who received care in our hospital between November 2019 and November 2021, and the patients' basic clinical data were analyzed. All patients were examined by high-frequency color Doppler ultrasound. After surgical exploration, different ultrasound images of oblique hernia, direct hernia, and femoral hernia were analyzed, and the detection rate and accuracy of ultrasound were also analyzed.

Results

By high-frequency color Doppler ultrasonography, direct hernia accounted for 15.94%, Oblique hernia accounted for 78.26%, and femoral hernia accounted for 5.80%. The diagnosis accuracy of direct inguinal hernia by high-frequency color Doppler ultrasonography was 100% after surgical verification; in indirect inguinal hernia, the accuracy of reducible hernia was 97.78%, irreducible hernia was 100%, incarcerated hernia was 100%, femoral hernia was 100.00%, and ultrasound detection accuracy was 98.57%.

Conclusion

High frequency color Doppler ultrasound has high diagnostic value in indirect inguinal hernia, direct hernia, and femoral hernia in the elderly, and can effectively make an accurate judgment on the classification of external abdominal hernia, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
