Application of transitional care in daytime operation for abdominal wall hernia

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application effect of transitonal care in daytime operations for patients with abdominal wall hernias.

Methods

A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 55 patients who underwent day surgery for abdominal wall hernia with transitional care intervention at Beijing Chao Yang Hospital from October 2020 to September 2022 was conducted. The awareness of nursing education information, rate of return visits, and nursing satisfaction on the day of discharge and 7 days after discharge were compared.

Results

For the 55 patients who adopted the transitional care model, the awareness of basic education content on the 7th day after discharge was significantly improved compared to the day of discharge. The awareness rates of correct use of pain score, rational use of analgesics, wound care precautions, and follow-up time were significantly different from those at discharge (P<0.05). Nursing satisfaction was high.

Conclusion

Patients who received the continuity of care model after day surgery had high awareness of education, good nursing satisfaction, and good nursing effects.
