Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application effect of checklist management model based on Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) concept in perioperative management of bilateral hernia repair through median incision in elderly patients.

Methods

A total of 80 elderly bilateral hernia patients who underwent tension-free preperitoneal hernia repair with median incision in the lower abdomen in the Department of General Surgery of Nanjing First Hospital from January 2021 to April 2022 were selected, and randomly divided into two groups by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The experimental group was managed by checklist management mode based on ERAS concept during perioperative period. The control group received routine management during perioperative period. The basic surgical indicators of the two groups were compared and observed, the knowledge of disease-related professional knowledge of the two groups of patients was evaluated, and the satisfaction of patients with perioperative nursing management was calculated.

Results

There was no significant difference in baseline data between the two groups (P>0.05). The first time out of bed and hospitalization time of the experimental group were shorter than those of the control group, the hospitalization cost was lower than that of the control group, the awareness rate of disease knowledge was higher than that of the control group, and the satisfaction of patient nursing management was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Application of the checklist management mode based on ERAS concept in the perioperative period of elderly patients with bilateral hernia repair through median incision can accelerate postoperative rehabilitation process of patients, reduce medical costs, and improve medical experience.
