Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effects of full-course nursing intervention on pain and stress responce in elderly patients with inguinal hernia during mesh plug procedure.

Methods

A total of 153 elderly patients with inguinal hernia treated in the first people's hospital of Lianyungang city between June 2018 and June 2019 were selected and divided into the control group (n=76) and the observation group (n=77) by random number table. Both groups were performed with mesh plug procedure. The control group was given traditional nursing mode, and the observation group used full-course nursing mode. Both groups intervened for 3 days. The length of hospital stay, the time of getting out of bed, and the cost of hospitalization between the two groups wre compared. The scores of pain and anxiety before and after intervention were compared. The levels of oxidative stress indicators before and after the intervention at 3 d were compared between the two groups.

Results

The length of stay in the observation group and the time to get out of bed were shorter than those in the control group (P<0.05). No difference of hospitalization costs was observed between 2 groups. Compared with 1 h before the intervention and 2 h to 3 d after the intervention, the scores of VAS and HAMA in both groups showed a gradual decrease, and the observation group was lower than the control group at 2 h, 3 days after intervention (P<0.05). Compared with before intervention, the level of serum β-EP in the two groups decreased at 3 days after intervention, and the observation group was lower than the control group, the level of serum T-AOC in the two groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Full-course nursing mode can improve the perioperative condition and negative emotions of elderly patients with inguinal hernia during mesh plug procedure, reduce pain and improvestress response, and speed up patients with recovery.
