Preliminary application of tissue-induced biological mesh in 5 cases of adolescent inguinal hernia repair

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the efficacy of biological mesh for adolescent inguinal hernia patients aged 13 to 18 years, and to provide a new potential treatment of this special group.

Methods

A total of 5 adolescent inguinal hernia patients with aged 13 to 18 years were enrolled in the study from April 2019 to October 2019. Lichtenstein repair was performed with tissue-induced biological mesh (Shanghai Pine&Power Biotech Co.,Ltd.). Postoperative complications and recurrence rate were recorded and analyzed.

Results

There was no allergic reaction and incisional infection during the followed-up time from 6 to 12 months, 1 patient suffered seroma, while there was no chronic pain and recurrence.

Conclusion

Lichtenstein hernia repair with tissue-induced biological mesh for adolescent patients had good results in postoperative complications, and could be applied in clinical.
