Clinical effects of EasyProsthesis partially absorbable mesh in incarcerated inguinal hernia

Abstract:

Objective

The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical application, safety and effect of EasyProsthesis partial absorbable mesh in incarcerated inguinal hernia.

Methods

All of 32 patients with incarcerated inguinal hernia from April 2016 to April 2017 in Dazhu People's Hospital were included. All patients were treated with Lichtenstein repair. The incidence of chronic pain, scrotal edema, scrotum hematoma, and hernia recurrence were analyzed retrospectively. Local exudation were sent for bacterial culture, and no bacterial growth was found.

Results

All of the 32 patients were cured. Hospital stay was 7 to 9 days. Abdominal distention and scrotal edema were founded in 11 and 7 cases, respectively. No residual hydrocele and hematoma of scrotum were founded. No hernia recurrence and chronic pain were founded after 4 to 14 months follow up.

Conclusion

Partially absorbable mesh could be safely and effectively used in patients with incarcerated inguinal hernia without intestinal necrosis.
