Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the application of holistic nursing intervention in high ligation of indirect inguinal hernia in children.

Methods

The clinical data of 114 children who underwent high ligation of indirect inguinal hernia in the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang City between June 2021 and June 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. Children receiving routine nursing from June to December 2021 were defined as the control group (n=57), and those receiving holistic nursing intervention from January to June 2022 were defined as the observation group (n=57). Postoperative recovery, compliance, pain degree and quality of life of the two groups were comparatively analyzed.

Results

The intestinal exhaust time and recovery time of the two groups were close (P>0.05). The hospital stay of the observation group was shorter as compared with the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, Frankl scale scores and the pediatric quality of life inventory TM version 4.0 (PedsQLTM 4.0) scores increased, and the observation group had higher scorers as compared with the control group (P<0.05). The Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability Behavioral Tool (FLACC) scores decreased, and the observation group had lower scores as compared with the control group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Holistic nursing can significantly shorten hospital stay, improve compliance, relieve pain and improve quality of life of children undergoing high ligation of indirect inguinal hernia.
