Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the intervention effect of a preoperative visit based on the King standard theory on psychological stress and anxiety in patients who are undergoing giant incisional hernia surgery.

Methods

A total of 72 patients who underwent laparoscopic incisional hernia repair in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital from March 2019 to July 2021 were selected as the research subjects, and were divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method, with 36 cases in each group. The control group received a routine preoperative visit, and the observation group received a preoperative visit based on the King reaching theory. The intervention effects on stress state, anxiety state and preoperative visit satisfaction were compared between the two groups.

Results

After entering the operating room, the anxiety value, systolic blood pressure and heart rate of patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Preoperative satisfaction in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

A preoperative visit based on the King reaching theory can improve the emotional state of patients, reduce the anxiety level of patients who are undergoing surgery, and improve the satisfaction of the preoperative visit.

Key words: Standard theory, Preoperative visit, Incisional hernia, Herniorrhaphy, Anxiety
