Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effects of biologic patch in laparoscopic trans-abdominal preperitoneal hernia repair (TAPP) of adolescent inguinal hernia.

Methods

The clinical data of 8 adolescent inguinal hernia patients admitted to Union Medicine Center in Tianjin from February to November 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. 8 adolescent patients with unilateral inguinal hernia were treated with TAPP on the basis of the inner ring suture using Surgisis patch. The indexes of fever, pain, seroma, infection and recurrence were observed 1 d, 7 d, 4 w, 6 m, and 12 m after surgery.

Results

The operations were successful in 8 patients. The operation time was 30~50 min. 7 patients were discharged from hospital 24 hours after operation, and 1 patient was discharged 48 hours after operation. All the 8 patients received follow-up after surgery (1 year). During the follow-up period, there was no case of recurrence, chronic pain, infection, foreign body sensation, or seroma.

Conclusion

The biological patch is safe and effective for TAPP on the basis of the inner ring suture in the treatment of adolescent inguinal hernia, and has low recurrence rate and complication rate.
