Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinical effect of the double hernia needle method in single hole laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac for indirect inguinal hernia in children.

Methods

The data of 307 children with indirect inguinal hernias at Shanxi Tongchuan People's Hospital from October 2019 to September 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into two groups according to the surgical methods: the double hernia needle group and the routine group. In the double hernia needle group, 158 children were treated with single hole laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac; in the conventional group, 149 cases were treated with conventional single port laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac. The operation time, blood loss, operation complications and recurrence rate within 6 months after the operation were recorded and compared between the two groups.

Results

There was no significant difference between the two groups in the amount of intraoperative bleeding (<10 ml). Mean operation time (8.07±2.51) min in the double hernia needle group was significantly shorter than (18.12±7.91) min in the conventional group (P<0.05); the incidence of surgical complications: 1.89% (3/158) in the double hernia needle group had no significant difference compared with 2.68% (4/149) in the conventional group (P>0.05); the recurrence rate of hernia within 6 months after operation: 0.63% (1/158) in the double hernia needle group was higher than 1.34% (2/149) in the conventional group, with no significant difference (P>0.05). All patients were followed up for 6 months without serious complications or death.

Conclusion

When compared to traditional single-hole laparoscopic high hernia sac ligation, double hernia needle surgery is simple, reduces operation time, and is safe and effective. It is worth applying for and promoting.
