Abstract:
Objective To explore the risk factors of incarcerated inguinal hernia in elderly emergency patients, and the impact of high quality emergency nursing measures on the prognosis of patients.
Methods A retrospective study was conducted to analyze 72 elderly patients with incarcerated hernia who were admitted to the emergency department of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2017 to December 2019. They were divided into two groups according to nursing methods, with 36 patients in each group. The control group was given emergency routine nursing before operation, and the observation group was given emergency high quality nursing before operation. The operation indexes and postoperative indexes were compared between the two groups.
Results The time of getting out of bed and the incidence of postoperative complications (hematoma, seroma, acute pain, infection) in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate in the control group was 87.9%, while the total effective rate in the observation group was 98.1%, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the control group was 86.11%, and that of the observation group was 97.22%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion The implementation of high quality nursing in the emergency department for elderly patients with incarcerated inguinal hernia has a significant effect on improving patients’ satisfaction, and can promote the recovery of elderly patients with incarcerated inguinal hernia.
