Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of Internet combined with personalized health education on prevention of complications and improvement of self-efficacy and emotion in patients with parastomal hernia after colostomy.

Methods

80 patients with parastomal hernia treated in Ma'anshan centralhospital from January 2017 to June 2019 were randomly divided into control group (n=40, routine nursing intervention) and observation group (n=40, Internet combined with personalized health education intervention). The confidence of keeping vitality, self-care of stoma, satisfaction with new life and heavy work were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. The self-efficacy scores such as confidence in physical labor, confidence in sexual life, social efficacy and stoma care efficiency were scored. At the same time, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS) and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups.

Results

Compared with the control group, the self-efficacy scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05); the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Internet combined with personalized health education in patients with parastomal hernia after colostomy has a positive role in preventing complications, improving self-efficacy and improving negative emotions, and should be widely applied.
