Analysis of clinical effect of laparoscopic biological mesh repair for adult umbilical hernia

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effectiveness and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic biological mesh repair for adult umbilical hernia.

Methods

The clinical data of 15 patients undergoing laparoscopic umbilical hernia biological mesh repair from January 2017 to January 2019 in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.

Results

Intraperitoneal onlay mesh were performed in all 15 patients successfully. The hospitalization was 5 to 6 days, with an average of 5.5 days. The follow-up period ranged from 8 to 42 months, with an average of 18 months. There was no recurrence during follow-up; 1 case of encapsulated effusion occurred; 3 cases of seroma occurred at 1 month after surgery; no chronic pain occurred in the area of abdominal wall after surgery.

Conclusion

Laparoscopic biological mesh repair of adult umbilical hernia is a minimally invasive, safe and reliable method, and it has good clinical effect.
