Abstract:

Objective

To explore the efficacy of single-port and two-port laparoscopic hernia sac high ligation in the treatment of inguinal hernia in children.

Methods

The clinical data of 126 children with inguinal hernia treated from January 2013 to October 2016 in Shishi hospital of Fujian Province were retrospectively analyzed. According to the surgical procedure, the patients were divided into single-port group (n=38) and two-port group (n=88). The time of leaving bed, incision size, hospitalization time, hospitalization cost, scrotal edema and recurrence rate in 2 groups of children were compared.

Results

The time of leaving bed, incision size, hospitalization time and hospitalization cost of the study group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in scrotal edema and recurrence rate between the two groups (P>0.05).

Conclusions

Compared with the two-port laparoscopic surgery, single-port laparoscopic hernia sac ligation is faster in postoperative recovery, shorter in hospitalization time, less in hospital cost, less complication and more suitable for aesthetic needs.
