Abstract:

Objective

To study the application value of tension-free hernia repair combined with whole-course nursing intervention in elderly inguinal hernia.

Methods

74 cases of elderly patients with inguinal hernia in our hospital from April 2016 to March 2018 were selected and divided into the experiment group and the control group according to random number table method, 37 cases in each group. The patients of the 2 groups underwent tension-free hernia repair, the control group received routine care, the experiment group used whole-course nursing intervention. The clinical parameters of the 2 groups, the pain degree at different time before and after the operation, the quality of care during the hospitalization, the postoperative complications and the recurrence rate of the hernia were compared.

Results

The hospital stays in the experiment group was significantly shorter than that of the control group (P<0.05), there was no significant difference in the time of spontaneous activity between the 2 groups (P>0.05). The VAS scores from 2 hours to 7 days postoperation of the 2 groups first increased and then decreased, and were significantly lower than preoperation (P<0.05), the VAS scores from 12 hours to 7 days in the experiment group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). The scores of maintenance and management of the ward, the observation of illness state and prevention of complications, the nursing operation and skill in the experiment group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the experiment group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). Followed up for 6 months, there was no significant difference in the recurrence rate between the 2 groups (P>0.05).

Conclusion

Whole-course nursing intervention for elderly patients with inguinal hernia who underwent tension-free hernia repair can minimize the degree of postoperative pain, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, shorten the length of hospital stays and promote the recovery of patients.
