Abstract:

Objective

To explore the influencing factors of trans-abdominal preperitoneal hernia repair (TAPP) on the treatment of indirect inguinal hernia.

Methods

A total of 360 patients with indirect inguinal hernia who underwent TAPP in Ma’anshan General Hospital of Ranger-Duree Healthcare from September 2018 to September 2021 were selected. All patients were followed up for 6 months after surgery to observe postoperative recurrence. The clinical and follow-up data of patients were collected. Univariate and multivariate analysis were used to explore factors affecting the efficacy of TAPP.

Results

Univariate analysis showed that gender, age, body mass index, smoking history, chronic constipation, and history of abdominal trauma had an impact on the postoperative effect of TAPP in patients with indirect inguinal hernia 6 months after surgery (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that gender, age, body mass index, smoking history, and chronic constipation are independent risk factors affecting the postoperative efficacy of TAPP (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Older male patients with a history of smoking, chronic constipation and high body mass index will increase the risk of recurrence after the treatment of TAPP repair. Timely intervention and adjustment for these patients are needed to improve the clinical efficacy of the treatment of TAPP for inguinal hernia.
