Abstract:

Objective

To compare and analyze the clinical effect of high ligation of hernia sac and traditional open surgery in the treatment of hernia in children.

Methods

From January 2017 to July 2020, 68 children with hernia who were identified and treated at Baoding Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Baoding Hospital, Beijing Children's Hospital were recruited and separated into study groups according to the period of arrival (the cut-off point was around November 2020), and the regular group, each including 34 children. The children in the regular group underwent conventional open surgery, while those in the study group underwent high ligation of the hernia sac. Comparing and analyzing the surgical circumstances and clinical treatment outcomes of the two groups.

Results

The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, recovery time, and hospitalization time of the research group were significantly shorter than those of the conventional group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the total effective rate (100.00%) of the research group was significantly higher than that of the conventional group (94.12%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the recurrence rate of the study group 2.94% (1/34) was significantly lower than that of the routine group 14.70% (5/34), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications in the study group [1 case (2.94%)] was significantly lower than that in the routine group [6 cases (17.65%)], and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Compared with traditional open surgery, high ligation of the hernia sac in children is safer and more reliable, with less intraoperative blood loss, faster recovery, and fewer complications.
