Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the value of high frequency ultrasound in the ultrasonic characteristics and differential diagnosis of inguinal hernia.

Methods

A total of 158 patients admitted from January 2018 to June 2021 with inguinal hernia confirmed by surgical results were selected as the study subjects. A high-frequency ultrasound examination was performed on all patients to observe their imaging characteristics and compare them with the intraoperative results to determine the diagnostic effects of ultrasound.

Results

183 of 158 patients were confirmed by operation, including 90 oblique hernias, 86 direct hernias, and 7 femoral hernias. There were 178 cases of inguinal hernia diagnosed by high-frequency ultrasound, including 89 cases of oblique hernia, 86 cases of direct hernia, 14 cases of indirect hernia combined with direct hernia, and 3 cases of femoral hernia. In addition, ultrasonography diagnosed 1 case of lipoma, 2 cases of hydrocele, and 2 cases of femoral hernia misdiagnosed as cysts. The accuracy of high-frequency ultrasound in inguinal hernia identification was 96.50%, and the positive predictive value was 0.975.

Conclusion

High-frequency ultrasound has high application value in the diagnosis of inguinal hernia, which can be used for diagnosis and differentiation of inguinal hernia, and can be popularized in clinical application.
