Abstract:

Objective

To analyze and compare the efficacy of single open mesh plug repair and mesh plug combined mesh tension-free repair in the treatment of indirect inguinal hernia.

Methods

120 patients with indirect inguinal hernia in Wuhu First People's Hospital from December 2017 to December 2019 were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to the operation method. The control group was treated with single open mesh plug repair, while the observation group was treated with mesh plug filling combined with plain patch tension-free repair was performed. The postoperative rehabilitation indicators, postoperative complications and hernia recurrence rate of the two groups were compared.

Results

In terms of postoperative rehabilitation indicators, the recovery time of intestinal peristalsis, recovery time of normal activities and hospitalization duration of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group (P<0.05), and visual analogue scale of the three stages of postoperative 1, 7 d and 1 month were better than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group, including incision infection, foreign body sensation, scrotal effusion, hematoma, seroma and urinary retention, had no significant statistical differences compared with the control group(P>0.05). The incidence of hernia recurrence in the observation group was 1.67% lower than that in the control group (1.67% vs 6.67%, P<0.05).

Conclusion

In the treatment of patients with indirect inguinal hernia, the application of mesh plug combined with mesh mesh tension-free repair has a more significant curative effect than the single open mesh plug filling repair. It can effectively improve the postoperative rehabilitation indicators of patients, reduce the pain of patients, without increasing postoperative complications.
