Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of CT abdominal scan (low dose) in the diagnosis of abdominal wall hernia.

Methods

Sixty-five patients with abdominal wall hernia admitted to Beijing Chaoyang hospital from January to December 2019 were selected for diagnosis. Normal dose of abdominal CT scan (260 mAs) was performed at the time of the initial clinical examination as the control group. In the subsequent abdominal enhancement, the plain scan sequence was reduced to 50% of the original dose (130 mAs), which was set as the observation group.

Results

The rate of excellent and good images in the control group was slightly higher than that in the observation group, but there was no significant difference (χ2=0.251, P=0.684). The CNR and SNR of the control group were 12.17±1.86 and 3.66±1.15, respectively, which were slightly higher than 10.26±2.16 and 2.87±1.06 in the observation group. The SD of the control group was 9.6±1.61, which was slightly lower than that of the observation group 11.5±2.51. The difference was statistically significant (t=0.685、0.375、0.411, P<0.05).

Conclusion

Abdominal CT scan (low dose) has a good effect on abdominal hernia. Compared with conventional dose, there is no significant difference in image quality and noise, but it can effectively reduce the radiation dose. Therefore, it is worthy of reference and use in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal hernia.
