Abstract:

Abdominal wall incisional hernias is one of the most common long-term complications after abdominal surgery. The treatment and prognosis of incisional hernias differs according to their different types. A variety of classification for abdominal incisional hernias has been proposed by experts from both domestic and abroad in recent years. However, due to the complexity of incisional hernia, the lack of unified classification criteria and the limitation in their value of providing clinical guidance have been witnessed as an unsolved problem. In this article, we systematically review and summarize the classification for abdominal incisional hernia and its historical evolution.

Key words: Incisional hernias, Abdominal wall, Classification, Complication
