Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the application effect of operating room body temperature nursing combined with detailed nursing intervention in the perioperative period of elderly patients with inguinal hernia.

Methods

A total of 80 elderly patients who underwent inguinal hernia surgery in Lujiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2020 to April 2022 were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing, while the observation group received operating room body temperature nursing combined with detailed nursing intervention. All patients were followed up for 6 months after surgery. The surgical indicators, intraoperative body temperature, postoperative recovery, psychological state, and the incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups.

Results

There was no significant difference in operation time between the two groups (P>0.05). Blood loss of the observation group was less than that of the control group (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in body temperature between the two groups of patients before surgery (P>0.05). The observation group had a higher body temperature than the control group at 10 and 30 min after the beginning of surgery and at the end of surgery (P<0.05). The intestinal function recovery time, ambulation time and visual analogue scale (VAS) score of the observation group were shorter or lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores of the two groups after nursing were lower than those before surgery, and the scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The total incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group (2.5%) was lower than that in the control group (15.00%) (χ2=3.914, P=0.048).

Conclusion

Applying operating room body temperature nursing combined with detailed nursing intervention to elderly patients with inguinal hernia during the perioperative period is conducive to maintaining body temperature, promoting postoperative recovery, improving psychological state, and reducing the incidence of postoperative complications.
