Abstract:

Objective

To study the value of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) in the prognosis evaluation of tension-free repair of inguinal hernias.

Methods

176 patients treated with no tension repair of inguinal hernia in Funan County Peoople's Hospital from March 2020 to March 2022 were selected as the study subjects. The levels of IL-6, hs-CRP and MMP-9 were detected before operation, 24、48 h after operation. According to the evaluation results of hernia recurrence and complications at 6 months after follow-up, the patients were divided into poor prognosis group (32 cases) and a good prognosis group (144 cases). Compare the change level of IL-6, hs-CRP, and MMP-9 before and 24、48 h after the operation, analyze the influencing factors of poor prognosis of inguinal hernia, and determine the prognostic value of IL-6, hs-CRP, MMP-9 alone and combined test.

Results

At 24, 48 h after operation, the serum IL-6, hs-CRP, and MMP-9 levels in the good prognosis group were all significantly lower than those in the poor prognosis group, The differences were all statistically significant (P<0.05); Serum IL-6 (OR=1.480, 95% CI 1.131~1.936), hs-CRP (OR=1.619, 95% CI 1.079~1.429), MMP-9 (OR=2.723, 95% CI 1.465~3.523) levels were all the influencing factors of poor postoperative prognosis in inguinal hernia patients; The AUC value of serum IL-6, hs-CRP and MMP-9 was significantly higher (0.871) than that of IL-6 (0.732), hs-CRP (0.749), MMP-9 (0.789), Its specificity and sensitivity for assessing the poor prognosis of the femoral hernia were 87.88% and 81.82%, respectively, Both are the highest.

Conclusion

The combined test of serum IL-6, hs-CRP and MMP-9 has great value in evaluating the tension-free repair of inguinal hernias.
