Clinical value of color Doppler ultrasonography combined with multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of indirect, direct inguinal hernia, and femoral hernia

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the clinical application value of color Doppler ultrasound combined with multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of groin hernia.

Methods

80 patients with groin hernia who received surgical treatment in Lu'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province from January 2017 to February 2022 were selected as the research objects. All patients underwent routine surgical examination, color Doppler ultrasound and multislice spiral CT. Describe the general condition and surgical diagnosis of the patients enrolled in the study. Using the surgical results as the "gold standard", the diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasound, multi-slice spiral CT and the combination of the two methods for groin hernia was calculated. The results of color Doppler ultrasonography and multi-slice spiral CT in some typical cases are given.

Results

A total of 80 patients were included in this study, The surgical results were 72 cases of indirect inguinal hernia, 2 cases of direct inguinal hernia and 6 cases of femoral hernia., and the lesion location was in the middle: 33 cases of left inguinal hernia, 47 cases of right inguinal hernia. The average diameter of the hernia sac was (2.84±1.88) cm. There was no statistically significant difference in diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, or negative predictive value (P>0.05). The diagnostic sensitivity of the two methods combined group for indirect, direct inguinal hernia, and femoral hernia increased and the specificity decreased.

Conclusion

The color Doppler ultrasound and multi-slice spiral CT has certain value in the diagnosis of indirect, direct inguinal hernia, and femoral hernia. The diagnostic sensitivity increases after the combined detection, but the combination of the two methods does not improve the diagnostic effect.
