Abstract:

Objective

To explore the safety and feasibility of ambulatory surgery medical mode in pediatric inguinal hernia.

Methods

The clinical data of 158 children with inguinal hernia who were admitted in Jinan Central Hospital Affiliated Shandong University from January 2018 to June 2019 was retrospectively analyzed. According to the treatment model, the patients were divided into two groups: common surgery group (80 cases) and ambulatory surgery mode group (78 cases). All patients were treated with laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia. The operation time, total hospitalized time, postoperative complications, hospitalization expenses and the degree of satisfaction in parents and medical workers of the two groups were observed.

Results

The operations were accomplished successfully in both groups, and the total hospitalized time (16.27±3.53) h, hospitalization expenses (7276.09±1599.90) yuan in the group of ambulatory surgery mode were significantly lower than those in common surgery group (70.40±13.48) h, (7860.43±1406.66) yuan (P<0.05). The degree of satisfaction of medical staff (very satisfied+satisfied, 91.0%) and parents (very satisfied+satisfied, 97.4%) in ambulatory surgery group were significantly higher than those in common surgery group (78.8%, 87.5%) (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the operation time and postoperative complications between the two groups (P>0.05).

Conclusion

The ambulatory surgery is a safe and effective mode in inguinal hernia of children, which can enhance the satisfaction degree of medical workers and parents, and is in line with the concept of rapid rehabilitation surgery.
