Abstract:

Objective

To explore the differential value of high frequency ultrasound in patients with different types of inguinal hernia and its relationship with the spermatic cord inferior epigastric artery.

Methods

A total of 116 patients with suspected inguinal hernia treated in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from May 2018 to June 2021 were selected as subjects, all of them were examined by high-frequency ultrasound, and surgery was the "gold standard" for the diagnosis and classification of inguinal hernia. The detection rate, differential efficiency of high-frequency ultrasound and the ultrasonographic characteristics of different types of inguinal hernias were analyzed, and the diameter of the hernia ring and its relationship with the spermatic cord inferior epigastric artery of different types of inguinal hernias were compared.

Results

Of the 116 patients with suspected inguinal hernia, 67 were diagnosed by surgical examination, the diagnosis rate was 57.76%. Among the patients with inguinal hernia, the top two were: reducible hernia or irreducible hernia and direct hernia. 62 cases were diagnosed by high-frequency ultrasonography, and the accuracy rate was 82.63% (P>0.05). The diagnostic sensitivity was 82.09%, the specificity was 85.71%. The detection rate of high-frequency ultrasound in direct hernia, reducible or irreducible hernia, incarcerated and strangulated hernia had no significance difference with the results of surgical examination (P>0.05). Under high-frequency ultrasound, the diameter of the hernia ring of direct hernia, reducible hernia, and strangulated hernia is slightly higher than that of surgical inspection, while the diameter of hernia ring of irreducible hernia and incarcerated hernia is slightly lower than that of surgical inspection, and there is no significance difference (P>0.05).

Conclusion

High-frequency ultrasound has a high detection rate in patients with inguinal hernia, and can identify different types of inguinal hernia, and it is closely related to the spermatic cord inferior epigastric artery.
