Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of acupoint massage combined with emotional nursing on improving the prognosis of patients with laparoscopic inguinal hernia.

Methods

60 patients with inguinal hernia repair admitted from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the research subjects. All of the patients were treated with laparoscopic surgery. All patients were divided into control and observation groups by random numbers, with 30 cases each. The control group took conventional nursing measures for intervention, and the observation group took acupoint massage combined with emotional nursing measures on the basis of the control group to intervene. The gastrointestinal function recovery time, abdominal distension and Kolcaba comfort condition scale (GCQ) score, self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) were compared between the two groups.

Results

The recovery time of bowel sounds, anal exhaust time, and first defecation time of the observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group (P<0.05); the incidence of severe abdominal distension in the observation group and the control group were 3.33%, and 23.33%, respectively. Compared with the control group, the observation group had a significantly higher incidence of severe abdominal distension (P<0.05); the observation group had significantly higher GCQ scores on the 1st, 2nd, and 7th days after the operation (P<0.05); compared with the control group, the SAS score and SDS score of the observation group were significantly lower (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Intervention of acupoint massage combined with emotional nursing measures for patients with laparoscopic inguinal hernia can speed up the recovery of gastrointestinal function, reduce the incidence of severe abdominal distension, improve the comfort level of patients after surgery, and reduce the occurrence of negative emotions. It has a positive effect on improving the prognosis of patients' treatment and should be fully promoted and applied.
