Abstract:

Objective

To explore the diagnostic efficacy of color Doppler ultrasound for inguinal hernia in children.

Methods

A retrospective analysis of the results of color Doppler ultrasound examinations of children with inguinal hernias in Baogang Hospital in Inner Mongolia from March 2017 to March 2020. After the child was admitted to the hospital, the routine surgical examination was completed first, followed by color Doppler ultrasound. Describe the results of surgical exploration. Analyze the diagnostic efficacy of color Doppler ultrasound in children with inguinal hernia.

Results

A total of 140 children were included in the study, including 129 boys and 21 girls, with an average age of (7.65±4.34) years. There were 44 cases of the lesionon the left side, 82 cases on the right side, and 14 cases on both sides. Among the 140 children, reducible hernias accounted for the highest proportion, with 122 cases, accounting for 87.14%. Among the hernia contents of children, the proportion of intestinal was the highest, reaching 72.86%. The detection results of all children with color Doppler ultrasound showed that the correct detection rate of inguinal hernias was 98.57% in general. Among them, the detection accuracy of reducible hernias was 98.36%, and that of irreducible hernias, incarcerated hernias andstrangulated hernia were100%. The diagnostic rate of hydrocele was 100%. The diagnostic rate of cryptorchidism and undescended testis was 100%, and the diagnostic rate of occult hernia in children was 85.71%.

Conclusion

Color Doppler ultrasound shows good accuracy in the diagnosis of inguinal hernia in children, and has high practical value, especially for children with occult hernia, undescended testis, and hydrocele. However, in actual work, various conditions need to be considered comprehensively to provide a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of inguinal hernia.
