Feasiility and experience of day surgery for inguinal hernia under local anesthesia in primary hospital: A report of 143 cases

Objective

To explore the feasiility of Day Surgery for inguinal hernia under local anesthesia in primary hospital, and to summarize and share experiences.

Methods

Clinical data of 143 cases of inguinal hernia who were underwent day surgery hernioplasty from April 2018 to April 2019 in the fifth people's hospital were retrospectively analyzed, to define the effect of day surgery for inguinal hernia, to summarize and share the experience of inguinal hernia day surgery.

Results

All operations were completed and all patients were discharged successfully. Seroma was found in 5 patients, 4 of them disappeared spontaneously and 1 of them was healed by puncture. There were no complications such as recurrence, bleeding, infection, and chronic pain.

Conclusion

Day surgery for inguinal hernia in primary hospital is feasible by grasping the operational indications and complying with the operational procedures strictly.
