Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the effect of individualized nursing on the incidence of complications and nursing satisfaction after tension-free inguinal hernia repair in elderly patients.

Methods

Between April 2018 and August 2019, 90 elderly patients with inguinal hernia underwent tension-free hernia repair in Hainan western central hospital were selected. The patients were randomly divided into observation group (n=45) and control group (n=45). The control group was treated with routine nursing, the observation group received individualized nursing, and both groups were cared until the patient was discharged from hospital. The nursing effect, clinical efficacy, scores of visual analogue scale (VAS) and quality of life (QOL), postoperative complications and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups.

Results

The operation time, the time of getting out of bed, the time of anal exsufflation and the stay of hospitalization in the observation group were less than those in the control group (P<0.05). At discharge, the VAS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the QOL score and nursing satisfaction score of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of perioperative complications in the observation group was 6.67% (3/45), which was significantly lower than that in the control group [26.67% (12/45), P<0.05].

Conclusion

Individualized nursing is effective in elderly patients with tension-free inguinal hernia repair. It can improve the surgical related indexes, reduce the occurrence of perioperative complications, reduce the pain of patients, and then promote the postoperative recovery of patients, improve their quality of life, and obtain the approval of patients.
