Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of multimedia preoperative interview on patients with laparoscopic tension-free inguinal hernia.

Methods

From April 2019 to May 2019, 88 patients in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital underwent laparoscopic tension free inguinal Hernias were enrolled. The selected patients were numbered according to the order of 1 to 88, in which 1 to 44 was the control group and 45 to 88 was the study group. The control group was given routine preoperative interview, and the study group was given multimedia preoperative interview. The effects of multimedia preoperative interview and routine interview were compared and analyzed in terms of systolic pressure, heart rate, anxiety and postoperative satisfaction.

Results

There was significant difference in anxiety between control group and study group (χ2=8.408, P=0.037). In the control group, the patients' systolic pressure, heart rate and satisfaction at 20 minutes before anesthesia were (132.30±5.73) mmHg, (83.34±5.21) bpm and (94.09±3.08), respectively, compared with the study group (128.52±9.10) mmHg, (80.18±5.64) bpm and (98.05±2.06), the differences were statistically significant (t=2.327, 2.728, -7.08; P=0.023, 0.008, <0.001). The systolic blood pressure and heart rate of the control group at 1 day before operation were (118.02±10.12) mmHg and (74.30±6.14) bpm, respectively, compared with the study group (121.57±10.25) mmHg and (76.61±5.72) bpm. There were no differences (t=-1.633, -1.832, P=0.106 and 0.070).

Conclusion

Multimedia preoperative education can relieve the patients' anxiety and fear, reduce the physiological reaction caused by psychology, reduce the risk of operation, and improve the patients' satisfaction and the quality of nursing in operation room.
