Interpretation of international guidelines for groin hernia management: PARTⅡ

Abstract:

The main goal of the guidelines is to improve patients' outcome, specifically to decrease the recurrence rates and reduce chronic pain. 136 statements and 88 recommendations were discussed by the expert group of this guideline. The part one of this guideline discusses 15 questions related the management of inguinal hernias in adults. Among them, the Chinese interpretation of the 10 questions in the part one has been published in last volume. The part two of this guideline discuses 6 questions, No. 16~No.21. This article summarizes the following key points in the guideline: (1) Groin hernias in women; (2) Femoral hernias; (3) Complications: prevention and treatment; (4) Pain: prevention and treatment; (5) Recurrent inguinal hernias; (6) Emergency treatment of groin hernia.
