Abstract:
Objective Toinvestigate the effect of fast track surgical nursing in laparoscopic hernia repair in patients with inguinal hernia and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Methods From May 2015 to April 2017, 212 casesdiagnosed with inguinalhernia and benign prostatic hyperplasiawho underwent laparoscopic hernia repair in Wuhan Central Hospital were randomly divided into observation group (102cases) and control group (101cases). The control group received conventional nursing model, while observation group received fast track surgical nursing model.
Results All the 212 patients were successfully operated. There was a statistically significant difference in the incidence of postoperative urinary retention between the observation group and the control group (χ2=0.351, P=0.013). The hospital stay of observation group [(2.8±0.6) days] was lower than that of the control group [(5.3±1.2) days], and the difference was statistically significant (t=-5.173, P=0.021). Patient satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=2.135, P=0.042).
Conclusion Fast track surgical nursing in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair for inguinal hernia complicated withbenign prostatic hyperplasiacan effectively shorten the hospital stay of patients and reduce the occurrence of postoperative urinary retention.
