Abstract:
objective To investigate the clinical effects of the application of laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh in spigelian hernia repair.
Methods Form October 2010 to December 2016, 11 patients with spigelian hernia were repaired with laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh in Minhang branch of Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University. The efficacy of this procedures were analyzed retrospectively.
Result The tension-free repairing operations were performed successfully under laparoscope in all cases. The operative time was 30 to 60 minutes (mean 40 minutes), and the mean blood loss was 15 mL. No operative death and infection occurred postoperatively. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 5.5 days. Seroma occurred in 2 cases. There was no recurrence observed during 6 to 50 months of follow-up.
Conclusion Application of laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh in spigelian hernia repair has advantages such as less trauma, rapid recovery, fewer complications and is in line with the principle of tension-free repair for hernia.
